Let’s dive into why Virginia Beach is the paw-fect getaway for you and your canine companion.

Why Virginia Beach?

The city allows leashed dogs on the beach year-round, making it an ideal spot for water-loving pups and their owners.

2. Parks and Recreation: Beyond the beach, Virginia Beach offers a plethora of parks and green spaces where dogs can roam and play off-leash. Bayville Farms Park and Red Wing Park boast expansive grassy areas, walking trails, and designated dog parks where your pup can socialize and burn off some energy.

3. Dining with Dogs: Virginia Beach embraces the “pets welcome” mantra, with many restaurants and cafes offering outdoor seating areas where you can dine with your furry companion by your side. From waterfront seafood joints to cozy coffee shops, there’s no shortage of places to enjoy a meal with your pup in tow.

From dog surfing competitions to “yappy hours” at local breweries, there’s always something fun happening in Virginia Beach for dogs and their owners to enjoy together.

How Virginia Beach Became Dog-Friendly?

By listening to the needs of pet owners and implementing policies that accommodate dogs, the city has created a welcoming environment for both residents and visitors with furry companions.

2. Legislation and Regulations: The city has enacted pet-friendly ordinances and regulations that allow dogs access to public spaces such as parks, beaches, and outdoor dining areas. By establishing clear guidelines and enforcing responsible pet ownership, Virginia Beach ensures that both pets and people can coexist harmoniously.

3. Pet-Focused Infrastructure: Virginia Beach has invested in pet-focused infrastructure, including dog parks, waste disposal stations, and pet-friendly amenities in public spaces. By providing these resources, the city encourages responsible pet ownership and fosters a sense of community among dog owners.

4. Promotion of Pet-Friendly Businesses: Virginia Beach actively promotes pet-friendly businesses through marketing campaigns, online directories, and signage. By highlighting establishments that welcome pets, the city attracts visitors who want to travel with their furry friends and supports local businesses that cater to pet owners.
